As the rain clouds cleared and the sun broke through, I stepped out to begin my day at Hay. The event was ‘How green is my money?’ a talk and discussion between myself, Alistair Sawday and Elaine Brook. In connection with the Gaia Partnership, this is a regular session at the Hay Festival and so attracts a good audience. As we sat in the Green Room waiting to go along, I thought I would be a bit disappointed if there were not at least 20 people. Andy Friars joined us and told us that 371 were booked in at the last tally, so we had moved to a bigger stage!

Chagford and Great Torrington behind me, I headed to Hartland, on the North Devon coast, for the fourth talk of the tour. I left behind me some inspiring people and beautiful places, but my pedals kept turning, propelling me northwards towards more.

At one moment I looked out to over one hundred people smiling back at me as they crammed into the Tabernacle building in Machynlleth, to join me to celebrate. This was the culmination of a large part of the last four years of my life. From the planning, the journey and the writing about it. It has been truly life changing! So many people have helped me along the way, and this was my chance to thank some of them.
