Slow Travel night at Cube Cinema kicks off Babs2Brisbane tour

Mark Boyle was up first and talked about his slow life journey, beginning with his attempts to live for a year without money.  He showed a really lovely film about his first few months of this challenge, in a caravan in the snow and cold and trying to hitch to northern Ireland to visit his family for Christmas.  He very kindly referred to me as a successful eco-traveller, and then modestly talked about his ‘failed’ attempts to walk to India without any money.

Snow Down

As I plucked an icicle from the fronds of a reed next to an icy river rushing down the Rhinogs, and ate it like a lollipop, little did I know what fun the next few days of weather would bring.  In the snow and freezing wind, I snowly began to feel somewhat reptilian.  Although my caravan is warm enough, it has been taking a long time in the morning for me to get to a temperature where I could function usefully.  Seemingly a lot of the UK has also snowed down this week.

Why do you live in a caravan?

Someone asked me the other day, this simple question, but it reminded me of some of the interest (and criticism) my living choices provoked two years ago when I had only just set up this blog.  In the constant monsoon style rain that has persisted for what seems like a full year since I returned from travelling, I think it is good to review my choice of dwelling!
