million, and is to be turned into a floating hotel.  So much for the credit crunch.  She arrived this week to a specially designed berth alongside the world’s largest man made island, The Palm Jumeirah.  Here she will be ripped apart and begin a new life as a hotel, retail and entertainment extravaganza…..

Calculate the carbon cost of your travels

This weekend I am travelling to Llangadog in mid-Wales to have a lesson in carriage driving of a horse!  I am very excited, about this opportunity and hope it is not too long before I can take to the road myself.  In true low-carbon Babs style, I thought I would take this opportunity to show you how to calculate the carbon cost of getting there!  Also as many people ask me how to do it for themselves, I thought this would help. Poznan, Poland

Poznan, Poland was a city on my route when I travelled overland to Brisbane 2 years ago. It appeared part way through my epic 63 hour bus journey, which was the first leg of my trip. For me it only represented a dot on the map, a place to mark my progress. I had never heard of this city before and sadly wasn’t able to stop to find out more. But Poznan is soon to put itself on the world map as the location of the United Nations Climate Change Conference running from 1st – 12th December.
